Jio to deploy 1,600 satellites & 23 ground stations for wider India coverage

Jio has proposed a constellation of around 1,600 Low Earth Orbit satellites and 23 ground stations across India to deliver nationwide satellite connectivity. Showcased at India Mobile Congress 2026 as “Sovereign Satellite Connectivity,” the plan targets 100% land and maritime coverage by integrating satellite and terrestrial networks, including remote villages, islands and border areas.
