According to BMTC, 30 buses will be deployed on these new feeder routes, providing around 415 trips daily. During peak hours, buses are planned to operate at 10-minute intervals, ensuring reduced waiting times and more seamless transfers between Metro stations and key city locations. To navigate Bengaluru’s often congested and narrow residential roads, the corporation will use compact seven-metre buses designed for agility and efficient movement through busy areas.
The new feeder services are strategically mapped to connect important Pink Line Metro stations with major residential neighborhoods and areas of activity, including Hulimavu, Tavarekere, Jayadeva Hospital, JP Nagar, and Uttarahalli. The designated routes include MF-18 J, linking Jayadeva Hospital Metro Station to Uttarahalli, and MF-18 JT, servicing passengers between Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere Metro Station. Another route, MF-18 JP, will follow a circular path that includes IIMB Metro Station. For connectivity between Hulimavu and Singasandra, BMTC is introducing the MF-22 HS route. The fifth service, MF-18 T, will provide a circular link from Tavarekere, reaching out to zones surrounding Jayanagar and Banashankari.
BMTC has highlighted that its existing services already play a significant role in the corridor’s connectivity, with 114 buses currently operating across 545 scheduled daily trips along Bannerghatta Road and towards Anekal and Jigani, extending even beyond Kalena Agrahara, the Pink Line’s southern terminal.
Further enhancing the commuter experience, BMTC and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) are planning to introduce real-time bus arrival information at all Pink Line stations. Through application programming interface (API)-based data sharing, passengers will be able to view expected BMTC bus arrival times at nearby stops, a feature aimed at helping Metro users coordinate their ongoing travel more efficiently.
Officials expect that these improved feeder routes and digital information systems will substantially enhance the convenience of daily commutes, making it easier for passengers to transition between the Metro network and bus services. The BMTC initiative, detailed by officials and reported by NativePlanet, marks an important development in addressing Bengaluru’s persistent last-mile connectivity challenges, and is designed to better integrate the city’s transportation options as the new Metro segment comes online.
