Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, should serve 36 months in prison after pleading guilty to violating laws against money laundering, U.S. prosecutors said in a court filing on Tuesday. Zhao, who is expected to be sentenced on April 30 in Seattle, stepped down as Binance's chief last November, when he and the exchange admitted to the violations.

The Blockchain Association, a crypto industry lobbying group, has taken legal action against the U.S. SEC in its ongoing battle against government regulators. The association filed a lawsuit on Tuesday in Texas, challenging the SEC's expansion of the definition of "dealer" to include DeFi users and projects. The association argues that the SEC's expansion of the dealer definition violates the APA.
