The US employment report for June showed 206,000 jobs added, exceeding estimates, and moderating wage growth, easing inflation concerns. However, revisions to recent monthly labor data revealed 111,000 fewer jobs created in April and May, and a decline in temporary employees and an increase in continuing claims for unemployment applications, indicating a softening economy.

The proportion of women in better-paying formal jobs, as measured by EPF enrollment, dropped to 19.6% in FY24 from 20.7% the previous year, while new enrollments in lower-paying ESIC jobs surged 21%. Experts attribute this shift to women exiting the workforce and men moving to gig work. The number of female ESIC enrollments rose to 3.5 million, while male enrollments decline.
