Investors gave thumbs-up to Central Bank of India on its plan to divest entire shareholding in Cent Bank Home Finance. On Sensex, the bank's stock ended at Rs14.05 per piece up 1.37%. However, the stock has gained by nearly 4% so far today on Sensex with an intraday high of Rs14.39 per piece. The bank announced its decision to divest stake in the home finance company on December 24, 2020.

Global stock markets and US futures rose Monday after President Donald Trump signed a $900 billion economic aid package, helping to reduce uncertainty as governments re-impose travel and business curbs in response to a new coronavirus variant. London and Frankfurt opened higher as traders returned to work following a three-day Christmas weekend. Shanghai and Tokyo also advanced.

Elon Musk’s electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla will start selling cars in India in early 2021, said Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Real Transport and Highways. Gadkari, who also manages the Ministry for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises told The Indian Express Idea Exchange programme that Tesla would start operation in India with sales in the coming year.

Indian companies managed to raise record high capital in 2020, defying disruptions caused by covid-19 and economic slowdown. Fund raising through public equity markets was at record ₹1.7 trillion in 2020, surpassing previous high of ₹1.6 trillion in 2017, data provided by Prime Database showed. Capital raised by India Inc in this year is 116% higher than previous year which was at ₹82,241 crore.

State-owned power giant NTPC on Monday said its Dulanga coal mine is commercially operational from October 1, 2020. ".based on achievement of approved norms and due approval; Dulanga Coal Mine (in Odisha) of NTPC Limited, having an ultimate peak rated annual capacity of 7 Million Tonnes Per Annum, is declared commercial operation from October 1, 2020, a BSE filing said.

Indian rupee ended marginally higher at 73.50 per dollar at the interbank forex market, with rally seen in the domestic equity market. The local unit opened flat at 73.52 per dollar against Thursday’s close of 73.54. It traded in the range of 73.46 – 73.61 in the intraday trade on Monday. Oil benchmark Brent Crude made rapid gains after a lower start on Monday.

"Given the huge market size for natural rubber in India in terms of production and imports, and its global price linkages and volatility, the launch of rubber futures on the exchange holds significance for industry stakeholders.. Hero Electric on Monday said it has tied up with e-mobility startup eBikeGO to supply over 1,000 bikes to transform last mile deliveries. eBikeGo will procure these Hero Electric bikes through the next financial year with the first batch of 120 already delivered to the startup, the company said in a release.

Adani International Container Terminal Pvt Ltd (AICTPL) on Monday said its maiden $300 million bond issuance witnessed 10 times oversubscription. AICTPL, a JV between Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) and Terminal Investment Ltd (TIL), is a container terminal operating company based out of Mundra, having an annual capacity of handling over 3.1 million TEUs.

Markets regulator Sebi will auction properties of Sunheaven Agro India Ltd on January 18 at a reserve price of Rs 9.4 crore in order to recover investors' money. Sunheaven Agro had garnered funds from more than 7,700 investors through issuance of redeemable preference shares without complying with public issue norms. The properties to be auctioned are land parcels and a building in Kolkata.
