The Karnataka government said on Thursday it is aiming to mould the state into a $300 billion digital economy in the next five years. The State government has instituted the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission. This is a technology mission to further accelerate and promote the growth of the State's digital economy, the Ministry said.

Business payments startup Enkash has launched a new product to help simplify payments for businesses with multiple retail or branch outlets. It has created a ‘business prepaid card’ through which the central office can keep financial control over the entire business centralised yet allow branches to undertake their own transactions through their own prepaid cards.

Uber on Thursday announced that it will deploy 500 e-rickshaws, the first three-wheeler micro mobility product on its platform, in Greater Kolkata. Riders from Howrah, Barasat, Madhyamgram, Rajarhat and Salt Lake will be able to book the e-rickshaws on the Uber app from Thursday, a statement said. In the first month, 100 e-rickshaws will be available and the rest will be done in a phased manner.

A consortium backed by Oaktree Capital has offered to provide at least $2 billion of funding to Vodafone Group Plc’s listed Indian arm, people with knowledge of the matter said. Oaktree teamed up with several other firms including Varde Partners for the potential deal with Vodafone Idea Ltd., according to the people.
