The government on March 15 increased windfall tax on crude petroleum to Rs 4,900/tonne from Rs 4,600/tonne. The new rates will be affective from tomorrow (March 16). The tax is levied in the form of Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED). According to an official notification, SAED on export of diesel, petrol and jet fuel or ATF has been retained at nil.
