Notwithstanding the UPI’s success story that has earned commendation in India and overseas with volume of transactions surging at a frantic pace, the unanticipated crackdown on Paytm Payments Bank has caught everyone by surprise.    For the uninitiated, RBI barred Paytm Payments Bank from accepting any customer deposits after Feb 29 citing non-compliance.

In a recent board meeting held on Wednesday, Tips Industries has given the green light for a buyback of its equity shares. The company plans to repurchase up to 5.95 lakh equity shares, amounting to a total worth of Rs 37.2 crore. The buyback price is set at Rs 625 per share, representing a substantial 21.3% premium over Tuesday's closing price.

The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index, the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, is expected to show prices ticked 0.3% higher on a monthly basis in January.

India's economic growth probably slipped below 7% for the first time in the current fiscal year in the October-December period, hit by a tepid manufacturing sector and weakness in consumption. The South Asian nation is expected to grow at 6.6% in the three months that ended on Dec. 31, a Reuters poll showed, slowing from growth of 7.6% in the previous quarter and 7.8% in the July quarter.

Buy or sell stocks in Indian stock market today: Following weak global cues, the Indian stock market ended lower on Wednesday as the majority of the indices witnessed sharp selling pressure. The Nifty 50 index lost 247 points and closed at 21,951 level, the BSE Sensex shed 790 points and closed at 72,304 mark whereas the Bank Nifty index corrected 624 points and ended at 45,963 level.

The Indian stock market investors are likely to remain cautious on Thursday, the monthly derivatives expiry day, amid weak global market cues and after the benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 witnessed a steep correction in the previous session. The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 21,960 level.

Zinc oxide manufacturer JG Chemicals Ltd has set the price band at Rs 210-221 a share for its public offer opening for subscription on March 5. The anchor bidding will be open on March 4 and the issue will close on 7th. Basis of allotment will be on March 11 and shares will be credited to demat account on 12th. The shares will be listed on exchanges on March 13.
