Electricity charges, bundled with rent or maintenance fees by real estate firms, malls or airports, will attract 18% Goods and Services Tax (GST). However, if electricity is supplied by residents’ welfare associations or real estate developers, on actuals or as charged by state electricity boards or discoms, it will not be taxed as it forms a part of the composite supply.
