Japan's Nikkei books best week since mid-August, but BOJ caps gains

The Ministry of Finance has notified the Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme, 2024 which will come into effect from October 1, 2024. This scheme aims to reduce income tax litigation and allows taxpayers to settle income tax appeals, writs and petitions that are pending before various appellate authorities including the Supreme Court and high courts as of July 22, 2024.

The Hinduja Group is ramping up its efforts to acquire bankrupt Reliance Capital, with Barclays Capital taking the lead in the 2nd tranche of a high-yield rupee bond offering, three people said anonymously. The group aims to raise a total of ₹4,300 cr (approximately $515 mn) to fund the acquisition, which was approved by NCLT but has faced delays due to regulatory hurdles and funding challenges.
