HSBC full-year profit jumps 78%, trailing estimate

HSBC Holdings reported a 78% increase in full-year profit due to high interest rates, but missed estimates and announced an impairment on its Chinese bank stake. The bank's profit for 2023 was $30.3 billion, below the expected $34.1 billion. A $3 billion impairment on Bank of Communications affected their annual profit. A fourth interim dividend of $0.31 per share was declared.
