MAR-24 IIP TAPERS DESPITE LOWER BASE. There was good news and some disappointing news on the IIP front for March 2024 (IIP is reported with a lag of 1 month). In the last 3 months, the high base effect had kept a cap on the IIP growth. However, this time around, the base IIP fell sharply from 6.01% in February 2023 to 1.95% in March 2023.

Aditya Birla Capital marked a significant financial achievement on Monday, reporting a remarkable two-fold increase in consolidated profit to ₹1,245 Crore for the fourth quarter ending March 2024. Shares of many companies with higher foreign ownerships have been under pressure amid the heightened selling of Indian stocks by overseas investors so far in May. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have sold shares worth over ₹22,000 crore this month after pulling ₹21,524 crore out of Dalal Street in April. More than 100 stocks where FPIs hold over 5% stake as of March 31, 2024.
