Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on February 1 which is going to be a vote on account as the Modi government heads for general elections likely around April-May. The vote-on-account is an exercise to help governments tide over the finances for the remaining period until the elections lead to the formation of a new government.
