The Nifty 50 snapped a three-day winning streak and settled the volatile session with moderate losses on May 15, but the the index faced resistance at 22,300 for yet another session during the day. Hence, if the index manages to give a decisive close above 22,300 then the rally may get extended towards 22,500-22,600 levels, the next hurdle area for the index, with support at 22,100-22,000 mark.

New Zealand's food safety regulator on Wednesday said it is investigating possible contamination in spice products of top Indian brands MDH and Everest after they faced scrutiny in other countries. The United States and Australia have been looking into contamination after Hong Kong last month suspended sales of three spice blends of MDH and one of Everest.

The crisis of confidence began in 2016, after the company agreed to pay a huge $40.5 billion for Allergan’s generic-drugs unit, doubling down on copycat drugs just as that industry imploded. The deal was largely to blame for pushing the company’s market capitalization.
