The Kerala state government has exempted Kochi Metro Rail Limited from property taxes levied by local self-government institutions, following an application filed by KMRL MD Loknath Behera in September last year, citing the Indian Railways Act and a tripartite agreement that requires the state to exempt or reimburse KMRL from local taxes.
