Nifty FMCG surged over 2% as brokerage firm CLSA made consumer staples its largest "overweight" sector in its India portfolio, citing government priorities and good rainfall. CLSA's Vikash Kumar Jain expressed a bullish view on food-related companies, adding to the sentiment. Domestic brokerage Ambit Capital also maintained its buy rating on Marico and Tata Consumer.
