India's food subsidy bill for 2024-25 is projected to be Rs 2.05 lakh crore, which is 3.3% lower than the current fiscal year's revised estimate. The increase is due to extending the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana by 5 years, with an estimated cost of Rs 11.80 lakh crore over 5 years. The government plans to spend an additional Rs 58,378 crore in 2023-24.
