BPCL reported a lower-than-expected third-quarter profit on Wednesday, due to lower marketing margins and losses in its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) segment. The state-owned company’s standalone net profit rose about 37% to 46.49 billion rupees ($538.6 million) in the three months ended Dec. 31. Analysts had expected a profit of 48.52 billion rupees, as per data compiled by LSEG.

Housing sales in nine major Indian cities dropped 9% to 4.71 lakh units in 2024 due to lower demand and a 15% fall in fresh supply, according to PropEquity's data analytics. The decline was attributed to a high base effect from 2023, which was a peak year. Housing sales in Delhi-NCR bucked the trend, rising 5%.
