Defence, shipbuilding stocks surge up to 5% post JPMorgan's bullish call

Shares of defence-related plays and shipbuilder companies are finding some buying interest in trade, sending the BSE CPSE index higher by 0.9% on November 27 in early trade. NSE's thematic Nifty India Defence index is seeing strong gains of over 2.3% in early trade, helped by all constituent stocks trading in the green as of 10:15am.

Japan's Nikkei share average ended lower on Wednesday, with automakers leading the losses, amid concerns about the impact of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's tariff pledges and a stronger yen. The Nikkei fell 0.8% to close at 38,134.97 and the broader Topix lost 0.9% to 2,665.34. On Monday, Trump pledged to impose new tariffs on imports from Canada, Mexico and China.
