Telecom sector may experience tariff hikes as industry needs higher ARPU

A tariff hike can be expected in the telecom sector soon as payment obligations by operators necessitate the need for ARPU expansion. The SC had in October 2019 mandated that telecom operators pay Rs 1,19,292 crore to the Department of Telecommunications as adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues. Of this, Bharti Airtel’s dues are pegged at Rs 43,980 cr, while Vodafone Idea’s dues were Rs 58,254 cr.

Mumbai: India launched its same-day settlement cycle for stock market trades, popularly known as T+0, on March 28 in a pilot programme that saw limited participation among investors and traders.According to BSE, 63 brokers participated in the shorter trade settlement process with 41 trading in 10 stocks. They placed a total of 329 orders which resulted in 90 trades, said the exchange in a release.
