Mutual fund investors invest through a systematic investment plan (SIP) or lump sum. Capital gains made in both ways are taxed as short-term and long-term capital gains. Short-term capital gains are taxed at a 15% rate, while long-term capital gains are taxed at 10%. One gets Rs 1 lakh tax relaxation on long-term capital gains. Beyond those gains, they have to pay a 10 per cent tax.

Infosys ADR (American Depository Receipt) shares fell 6.78 percent on April 18 on NYSE after the IT services company posted its earnings for the quarter ended March 31, 2024. Infosys, in its FY25 outlook, slashed its revenue guidance to 1-3 percent, below analyst estimates, as weakness continued in discretionary and digital projects.
