SmartHR, said on Mon that it has raised $140 mn in a funding round led by KKR and Teachers’ Ventures Growth, an investment arm of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, with participation from existing investors. The Series E round, which comes three years after the company raised a $142.5 mn (15.6 bn JPY) Series D at a valuation of $1.6 bn, is latest indicator that investors are still keen to back tech.

Coal India Limited reported an 8% increase in coal production to 189.3 million tonnes in the first quarter of FY 2024, with a 9% rise in June alone to 63 mn tonnes. Total supplies grew 6% year-on-year to 198.4 mn tonnes, with a 4% increase in supplies to coal-fired plants and a 16% surge in supplies to the non-power sector. The company's coal inventory at pitheads rose 40% to 81.5 million tonnes.
