Lapsed Payments Jeopardize Recurring Deposit Returns

Missing three instalments on a recurring deposit (RD) does not automatically cancel the account. It becomes irregular, incurring a penalty fee and potentially lower interest rates and maturity amount. Banks may allow account holders to make payments with penalties or close the account prematurely, attracting lower interest rates and penalties.
