India expects steel imports to slow from China, South Korea and Japan

India imposed a 12% provisional safeguard duty on steel imports from China, South Korea, and Japan for 200 days to address rising imports, which reached a nine-year high in FY2025. The government expects imports to slow, with South Korean companies, including POSCO and Hyundai, opposing the measure but not providing immediate comment.
