High gold prices dim Akshaya Tritiya sales: Volume likely down by 30%

Soaring gold prices led to a 30% drop in volume sales during Akshaya Tritiya, though value sales rose 15-20%. Total gold sales were around 17.5-18 tonnes, down from 25 tonnes last year. Prices surged 31% to ₹95,689 per 10 grams. South India saw better demand, with plain gold jewelry up 15% and diamond-studded jewelry up 25% in value.
