Govt to speed up clearances for pumped hydro storage projects

The government aims to approve 13 pumped hydro storage projects (PSPs) this fiscal year, doubling last year's target, to integrate renewables and address energy storage needs. The capacity is set to rise from 7.5 GW to 22 GW, with a goal of 50 GW by 2032. PSPs offer a cost-effective, long-term solution compared to batteries.
