India VIX, commonly referred to the gauge of volatility in the Indian stock markets, surged 5 per cent in intra-day deals on Tuesday, May 07 to hit the 17.56 mark – a 52-week high. On April 23, India VIX had dropped 20 per cent to 10.2 levels, which analysts attributed to the then prevailing positive sentiment in the domestic markets. Since then, India VIX has climbed steadily.

Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL) on May 7 reported an increase of nine percent in its consolidated net profit at Rs 433.29 crore for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023-24.The city gas distribution company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 397.51 crore a year ago, while it decreased almost nine percent on a quarterly basis from Rs 475.45 crore in the quarter ending December 31.
