DHL Layoffs: German logistics giant cuts 8,000 jobs after profit falls 7.2%

Germany’s DHL plans to cut 8,000 jobs in Germany this year, its largest staff reduction in two decades, due to declining letter volumes and strict regulations. Shares rose 12.3%, with savings of over €1 billion expected by 2027. The Verdi union criticized the cuts, while CEO Tobias Meyer noted insufficient stamp price increases. The reductions represent 1.3% of DHL’s global workforce.
