The pandemic-led lockdown has affected the demand for cement across the country. Industry insiders say demand has slowed down by 20-30% in May, in comparison with March. According to Reliance Securities, cement demand was adversely hit in April 2021 due to the Second Wave of COVID-19. The economic restrictions imposed by several states have drastically reduced construction activity.
