Bharti Airtel seeks equity conversion of spectrum dues

Bharti Airtel has sought conversion of its deferred spectrum dues into equity, similar to Vodafone Idea, to ensure parity under the 2021 telecom reforms. Airtel has prepaid ₹5,985 crore towards high-cost spectrum liabilities, reducing its total spectrum debt to ₹52,000 crore. The government will evaluate such requests individually, with no immediate decision on Airtel's plea.
