India's summer crop sowing reached 7.3 million hectares, up 15% from 6.3 million hectares last year. Rice acreage rose 14.3% to 3.2 million hectares, while coarse grains, including maize, increased to 750,000 hectares. Pulses saw a 22% rise, with moong and urad up significantly. Oilseeds also grew, with groundnut and sesamum rising 4.8% and 4%, respectively.
